Understand and Confirm Report Data Configuration

Before diving into your reports, please take a few minutes to review these core settings. Correct data settings are the foundation for accurate insights. If you are unsure about any settings, please consult relevant team members or contact us.

You can find these settings at Online Store Settings → Report Settings

【Order Sales】

This setting determines which value is used as the "Order Sales" amount throughout all Convbox reports. Please select according to your team's business practices.

  • Total Amount: The total amount paid for the order when payment completed.
  • Total Without Shipping: Order total amount minus shipping fees.
  • Total Without Tax: Order total amount minus taxes.
  • Product Subtotal after Discount: The sum of product prices after discounts, excluding shipping and taxes.

【Timezone】

This setting determines the time zone used to calculate and display data in your reports. It defaults to your Shopify store's timezone.

A unified timezone is crucial for combining data from multiple sources. However, please note: data from most ad platforms (e.g., Facebook, Google) is locked to the fixed timezone set when the ad account was created. Convbox cannot convert the timezone for this ad data.

Best Practice:

  1. Preferred: Ensure all your ad accounts are created using the same timezone as your Shopify store.
  2. Alternative: If the timezones are inconsistent, we recommend setting the Convbox report timezone to match your ad accounts. This ensures all data is aligned under the same timezone.

What if timezones are inconsistent?

If you keep the report timezone set to your store timezone while your ad accounts use a different one, the ad data will remain in its original timezone. This means different metrics in your report may be based on different timezones.

Viewing long-term reports (e.g., Monthly): Data trends and insights remain valid.

Viewing short-term reports (e.g., Today): Data may be misaligned, making the results meaningless.

【Currency】

This setting determines the currency used to calculate and display data in your reports. It defaults to your Shopify store's currency. The system supports conversion to any currency, using historical daily exchange rates from https://www.exchangerate-api.com/.

【Attribution Window】

Convbox currently uses a default 30-day click attribution window for all traffic channels. This setting is not currently user-adjustable. Please contact us if you have specific requirements.

Each ad platform has its own default attribution window, for example:

  • Facebook Ads: Typically uses a 7-day click or 1-day view attribution window.
  • Google Ads: Typically uses a 30-day click attribution window.

Please be aware of this difference when comparing Convbox reports with ad platform reports, as it is often a primary reason for data discrepancies.

【Google Conversion Report】

Google Ads defaults to reporting conversions based on the click time. For example: if a user clicks an ad on Aug 1 and places an order on Aug 15, the conversion is credited to Aug 1. Therefore, Google's report will continue to update for a period after the click occurs. Google also supports viewing data by conversion time, but you must manually select this in the report columns.

To align with how most users view their ad data, Convbox currently also displays metrics from Google Ads based on click time by default. If you need to change this to display based on conversion time, please contact us.
