How to Distinguish Order ID, Order Number, and Order Name in Shopify

In Shopify, Order ID, Order Number, and Order Name are different identifiers and attributes related to orders. You can understand and distinguish them as follows:

1.Order ID:

a. Order ID is a unique identifier assigned by Shopify to each order.
b. Every order has a unique Order ID, typically consisting of a number or a unique string.
c. In the address of the order details page, you will generally find a long string of numbers as the Order ID suffix, as shown in the following example:

2.Order Number:

a. Order Number is automatically generated by Shopify when creating an order. It is a user-friendly order identifier and is much shorter than the Order ID, making it easier to remember and recognize.
b. To view the Order Number for a specific order, you can follow the following steps: Go to the order's details page.>>Manually add ".json" to the end of the page address and press enter.>>You will see the following page, where you can search for the "number" content to find the corresponding Order Number, as shown here:

3.Order Name:

a. Order Name can be customized by the merchant and does not have a fixed format. It is set according to the merchant's needs. Shopify currently supports setting Order Name in a format that includes a prefix, Order ID, and a suffix.
b. Generally, what you see in the "Order" column in the Shopify order list is the Order Name.

c. To confirm the Order Name for a specific order, you can still use the same method: Go to the order's details page.>>Manually add ".json" to the end of the page address and press enter.>>You will see the following page, where you can search for the "name" content to find the corresponding Order Name.
