GA4 Integration Setup Guide

Follow the steps below to complete the configuration required for GA4 integration.

Prerequisites for GA4 configuration
Install Data Layer on your store
Install the Data Layer listener on your store
Install Shopify Notification on your store

Step 1: Click "Configure" under Destinations - GA4, and click "Start" on the overview page.





Step 2: Choose Event Breakdown

"Use Best Practices" is selected by default, which is the best setting we preset for you that will work for most users. You don't need to make any adjustments, just click "Save and Continue" to move on to the next step.



Or you can select the "Customize events manually" option, and check the events you want to send to GA4 and how the events should be sent (via Server or web).

Step 3: Set Up Consent Mode

If you need to enable the Consent Mode, you need to enable the Consent Mode in Data Layer first. If it is not enabled in Data Layer, you can only choose "Not Enabled", and click "Save and Continue" to enter the next step.



Step 4: Select Transaction Identifier

Order Name is the most commonly used transaction identifier, so we set it by default.
If you do not need to modify, just click "Save and continue" to proceed to the next step.
Note: If you need to send Refund data to GA , you must use the Order ID as your transaction identifier.



Step 5: Select Product identifier

Product SKU is the most commonly used product identifier in GA integration. You can modify this default configuration as required.
Then click "Save and continue" to proceed to the next step.



Step 6: GA4 settings

Add the GA4 Measurement ID How to create and get the GA4 Measurement ID

Add GA4 Secret How to generate and get GA4 Secret

After filling in the above two items, click "Save and continue" to enter the next step



Step 7: Install the Web Container

Download the Web tag file first, then import and publish it in GTM.

Click "Mark as Completed" to proceed to the next step



Step 8: Enable GA4 Integration

Enable GA4 tracking by selecting "Go Live" on the overview page.
