Facebook Integration Setup Guide
Follow the steps below to complete the configuration required for Facebook integration.
Install Data Layer on your store
Install the Data Layer listener on your store
Install Shopify Notification on your store
"Use Best Practices" is selected by default, which is the best setting we preset for you that will work for most users. You don't need to make any adjustments, just click "Save and Continue" to move on to the next step.
Or you can select the "Customize events manually" option, and check the events you want to send to Facebook and how the events should be sent (via Server or web). Facebook officially recommends that the server and the Web event data should be sent together, and Facebook will automatically deduplicate the data.
If you need to enable the Consent Mode, you need to enable the Consent Mode in Data Layer first. If it is not enabled in Data Layer, you can only choose "Not Enabled", and click "Save and Continue" to enter the next step.
Most merchants will select Product Group as the content type and send Product ID as the product identifier. This is Shopify's default for Facebook integration.
If your product catalog uses Variation ID as the primary identifier, please select Product as the content type and send Variation ID as the product identifier.

Click "Save and Continue" to proceed to the next step.
Download the web tag file first, and then import and publish it in GTM. Check out how to import web tags into your GTM account and publish them
Click "Mark as Completed" to proceed to the next step
Before going live, you can test your server events in Facebook Event Manager.

Enable Facebook CAPI tracking by selecting "Go Live" on the overview page.

Step 1: Click "Configure" under Destinations - Facebook, and click "Start" on the overview page.
Step 2: Choose Event Breakdown and Purchase Type Customization
